Rob Hoekstra

Rob Hoekstra was born in Holland and started his jumping career early with the help of some leading Dutch riders that includes Albert Voorn, George Morris, Henk Nooren and Leslie Taylor. At the age of 16 he was a member of the Dutch junior team, in 1978 he moved with his parents from Holland to the UK and switched his nationality to British.

As a British showjumper he represented the UK on many occasions in Nation Cup competitions as well as winning numerous international competitions. In 1999 Rob Hoekstra won the Hickstead derby riding Lionel II the following year he again jumped double clear in the derby with Lionel II and was placed 3rd.

In 2010 he was appointed team manager for the British national showjumping squad, in 2011 the British team won Individual and team gold medal at the European championships and in 2012 the British team was to win team Gold at the London olympics.
